He attained his Diploma in
Ophthalmology(DO) at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in
1983, and in 1987, became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons
of Edinburgh(FRCSEd). He was awarded, in 1990, with a Fellowship of
the Royal College of Ophthalmologists(FRCOphth). He also holds the
Certificate of Laser Refractive Surgery of the Royal College of
Ophthalmologists.
In addition to his work with Optimax, Dr Hoe has
held the post of Associate Specialist at the Corneo-Plastic Unit at
East Grinstead for over fifteen years. There he has performed
numerous
cataract, glaucoma and oculo-plastic surgical procedures as
well as over 300 corneal transplants.
He has attended numerous courses and conferences,
and conducted research on a variety of subjects for publications
and presentations. In 1990, he co-founded a new charitable eye unit
in Myanmar, which he visits every year to provide a self-financed
voluntary service to the community, by performing eye
surgery and providing teaching and demonstrations to locally
trained eye surgeons.
His professional memberships include the American
Academy of Ophthalmology, the United Kingdom & Ireland Society
of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, the European Society of
Cataract & Refractive Surgeons and the Southern
Ophthalmological Society. Dr Hoe joined Optimax in 2002 and has
performed over 10,000 laser refractive surgical procedures.
