In 1998, Dr Masilamani came to
the UK to further his training. He worked as a Senior House Officer
(SHO) in a number of hospitals, including the Victoria hospital in
Blackpool.
During three and a half years as
an SHO, he trained in phacoemulsification of
cataracts, as well as various oculoplastic and
corneal grafting procedures, and has performed
laser treatments using the ARGON and the Nd: YAG
laser for various ocular disorders.
He received his Fellowship from
the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, in November 2000 and is
also a member of the European and United Kingdom Society of
Refractive Surgeons.
While undertaking a Fellowship in
medical retina at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, he passed the
necessary licensing exams to practice medicine in the United
States.
Dr Masilamani specialises in LASIK
using the latest Femtosecond technology. He also trains
ophthalmologists from the NHS in laser
refractive surgery.
Dr Masilamani joined Optimax in 2003.
