Dr Samuel received his
medical degree (MBBS) from Nishtar Medical College, Pakistan in
1982. He was trained in Ophthalmology at Christian Hospital Taxila
and then continued to work in the same hospital until 1989.
During this period he passed two
post graduate examinations in ophthalmology: MCPS (Member of
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan).DOMS (Diploma in
Ophthalmic Medicine and Surgery).

In 1989 he relocated to the UK
for further training in Ophthalmology. He worked in different
hospitals in NHS, in the UK. He received Fellowship in
Ophthalmology from Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of
Glasgow in 1995.
Working in different NHS hospitals Dr Samuel gained wide
experience in
cataract, glaucoma and lid surgery. He has wide
experience of using all kinds of ophthalmic lasers for anterior and
posterior segments of the eye.
Dr Samuel started doing Laser
Refractive Surgery in 1999. Since then, he has performed over
19,000 Refractive Surgery (
Laser Eye Surgery) procedures including
LASIK, PRK,
LASEK and CK.
He has vast experience of using
different types of Excimer Lasers used for
Laser Eye
Treatment and is also well experienced in using various
Microkeratomes for
LASIK. He also has vast experience of using
Femtosecond Lasers for LASIK flap
creation.
Currently he is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Royal
College of Ophthalmologists, and has received a Masters Degree in
Health Care Ethics from University of Leeds in 2003.
Dr Samuel has keen interest in
teaching and training
Refractive Surgery. Since last few years he
has been providing training to NHS ophthalmologists through
Didactic Curses and wet lab workshops. He is the course Director of
York Refractive surgery courses.
A regular delegate at
Laser Eye
Surgery conferences and seminars, Dr Samuel is also a member of
the following: American, European, Ireland and UK Society of
Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
Dr Samuel has certification in Laser
Refractive Surgery from Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He
is a member of the panel of examiners for the Laser Refractive
Surgery Assessment by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. For a

He is a Registered Medical
Practitioner with GMC and is also a member of British Medical
Association (BMA).
