Laser Eye Surgery Lifetime Aftercare Guarantee
Your Optimax care doesn't stop after your immediate recovery, we give all our laser patients all necessary aftercare and remedial treatment for as long as you need it, free, even after you're discharged with a satisfactory result. This doesn't cover natural changes to your eyes or any diseases not connected to laser treatment and excludes non-laser surgery patients.
We want to ensure that your treatment achieves the best possible results, so it is important that patients attend their aftercare appointments. Personal aftercare is included as part of the treatment pathway and, for complete peace of mind, the Optimax aftercare advice line is available for patients.
Laser Eye Surgery
We believe that continuity is an important part of the Optimax treatment pathway, so your treating doctor will be actively involved in your aftercare.
LASIK - including Wavefront/ IntraLase Femtosecond
Aftercare appointments usually take place on the day following treatment, again one week afterwards and six to eight weeks later (if all is well you will also be discharged at this visit).
LASEK - including Wavefront
If bandage contact lenses are used, they should be removed three to four days after treatment at an Optimax clinic. The next aftercare appointment will be 7-10 days after treatment and then again at six to eight weeks (if all is well you will also be discharged at this visit).
After your second appointment at Optimax, we can arrange for you to see one of our participating opticians in your local area for further aftercare appointments. You will be charged a fee by the optician (usually £15-£20 and not covered by Optimax) however this may be a less expensive option than your travel costs to Optimax. The optician will forward your results to us for our records.
Cataract surgery / RLE, Keratoconus and ICL
As with Laser Eye Surgery, we believe that continuity is an important part of the Optimax treatment pathway, so your treating doctor will be actively involved in your aftercare. Optimax offers up to one year free aftercare on non-laser treatments.
You will be seen on the day after surgery at your consultation clinic, so an overnight stay at a local hotel may be necessary. Appointments then take place one week following each surgery. The doctor will examine your eyes and assess your individual needs.
Following your initial aftercare consultations you would be required to come back for check up four to six weeks later, three months later and once again in six months. This is to ensure that your treatment achieves the best possible results.
ICL patients would also be required to attend an Endothelial Cell Count test once every two years. This is to ensure that the lens hasn't moved and that no cell damage has occurred. You are welcome to return to Optimax for the test which is currently available at our London, Birmingham, Peterborough, Manchester and Glasgow clinics at a cost of £25.
Alternatively, you can arrange this test through a local Ophthalmologist of your choice. Please make sure you ask specifically for Endothelial test.
