Question of the Week 28/04

I only need glasses for reading. Is there a procedure that can correct this?

Yes there is. The need for reading glasses is caused by Presbyopia, a condition whereby the eye’s focusing ability decreases, usually occurring after the age of 40.

Optimax offer the following treatments for reading prescriptions:

PresbyMAX: this reshapes the eye’s surface into precise focal points. After having this treatment patients can read a book within a couple of minutes, without the help of visual aids.

Monovision treatment: this is when one eye is treated for near vision and the other for far distances. Monovision treatment is a compromise and may take some time to get used to.

Refractive lens exchange: RLE is when the natural lens is removed from the eye and replaced with an artificial lens. The lens that’s inserted into the eye is selected specifically for that patient to ensure the best possible visual outcome.

Please note that the type of treatment recommended to you will be based on a number of different factors including age and the degree of presbyopia that you have.
