Dr. Jan Grzeszkowiak graduated from the University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland in 1991. His ophthalmology training took place in Poznan and at the University of Freiburg, Germany.
He completed the Ophthalmology Training Programme in Poznan in 1999 and was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the International Council of Ophthalmology and International Federation of Ophthalmological Societies.
He continued his surgical career in cataract and refractive surgery at the University of Helsinki, Finland, receiving his PhD in 1996.
Dr. Grzeszkowiak is a Medical Manager at one of Poland’s leading eye clinics. He is an experienced anterior segment surgeon specialising in laser refractive surgery (including Femtolasik, Lasik and Lasek), cataract surgery and phakic intraocular lens implantations. He also specialises in the surgical treatment of keratoconus . His areas of expertise include the use of various excimer laser systems, femtosecond laser and different types of microkeratomes.
He has performed more than 40,000 laser eye surgeries, and is currently listed on the Specialist Register of GMC.
Dr. Grzeszkowiak is a member of the United Kingdom & Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).
He holds the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Grzeszkowiak's teaching remit include the training of ophthalmologists in cataract and refractive surgery, along with leading training seminars and wet labs. As part of the faculty at the University of Poznan he mentors optometry students and supervises Masters' theses.
His articles are frequently published in scientific journals, and Dr Grzeszkowiak is well established as a conference speaker. For over a decade, Dr Grzeszkowiak has organized and led voluntary medical missions to Kenya, where he performs sight-saving and sight-restoring surgeries to the community. He has successfully introduced modern surgical techniques there and trains local ophthalmologists.
