Dr. Jan Grzeszkowiak graduated from the University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland in 1991. His ophthalmology training took place in Poznan and at the University of Freiburg, Germany.
He was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the International Council of Ophthalmology and International Federation of Ophthalmological Societies.
Subsequently, he continued his surgical career in cataract and refractive surgery at the University of Helsinki, Finland, receiving his PhD in 1996.
He is an experienced anterior segment surgeon specialising in laser refractive surgery (including Femtolasik, Lasik and Lasek), cataract surgery and phakic intraocular lens implantations. He also specialises in the surgical treatment of keratoconus.
He has performed more than 40,000 laser eye surgeries, and is currently listed on the Specialst Register of GMC.
Dr. Grzeszkowiak is a member of the UK & Ireland Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (UKISCRS) and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS). He holds the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Certificate in Laser Refractive Surgery.
Dr. Grzeszkowiak's teaching remit includes the training of ophthalmologists in cataract and refractive surgery, running training seminars and wet labs.
His articles are frequently published in scientific journals, and he is well established as a conference speaker. For over a decade, Dr Grzeszkowiak has organised and led voluntary medical missions to Kenya, where he performs sight-saving and sight-restoring surgeries to the community.
Dr Grzeszkowiak joined Optimax in 2011.
