Mr Mantry is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialist interest in corneal refractive surgery. Since 2005 he has performed surgery at the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology, Gartnavel General Hospital and Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS Trust.
His Higher Specialist Training (HST) took place in the West Midlands from 2000 to 2004, where he developed subspecialty interest in anterior segment. He subsequently completed two fellowships in anterior segment in Birmingham and Nottingham. During his training he developed a special interest in Lamellar keratoplasty and corneal refractive surgery.
Mr Mantry provides tertiary corneal refractive surgery expertise for routine and complex corneal problems. He has performed over a thousand laser refractive procedures and over 10,000 lens procedures (cataract and RLE).
He is currently an examiner for the Ophthalmologist’s Fellowship exam (Glasgow) and has published over 20 peer reviewed articles. Mr Mantry is an honorary Lecturer for Glasgow Caledonian University and supervises the training of optometrists and ophthalmologists there. He is part of the invited faculty for national and international conferences on Cornea, Cataract and Refractive surgery.
