Dr Smorawski graduated from Poland's most prestigious Medical University in 2000.
Soon after completing his Studies he began training in Ophthalmology, during which he practiced Yag and Argon laser treatment of anterior and posterior eye segment for different eye conditions.
During his training in Ophthalmology Dr Smorawski focused on corneal diseases, diabetic maculopathy, intravitreal injections and Medical Retina. He has been involved in multicentered worldwide trials on a new anti-ischemic drug introduced to treat retinal ischemia in 2009.
In 2005 he undertook a 3 month tenure observing Vitreoretinal surgery in Frankfurt Germany. In 2008 he joined a team of Eye Surgeons who collectively pooled their skills in glaucoma and small incision cataract surgery at charitably run Eye Hospitals in Africa, including the Lighthouse Hospital (Mombasa, Kenya) and Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center (Moshi,Tanzania).
In 2008 Dr Smorawski relocated to the UK to take senior NHS (SHO) training posts in Ophthalmology at Maidstone Hospital, Bristol Eye Hospital and Taunton Hospital where he continued his training in the corneal and vitreoretinal fields. He has performed many refractive procedures including LASIK, LASEK and EPI-LASEK using different types of microkeratomes.
Dr Smorawski is a Registered Medical Practitioner with GMC since 2005. He was awarded a Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR) in 2010.
