Dr Saboor has been a fully accredited Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Forth Valley NHS Trust and in private practice since 2000.

He graduated from King Edward Medical College, Lahore in 1987, having won the College’s Academic Distinction award and Gold Medal.

In 1992 he completed Basic Ophthalmic Surgical Training in Glasgow and Essex and was awarded Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh together with Fellowship of Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London in the same year. Subsequently he commenced Higher Ophthalmic Specialist Training in Glasgow and Birmingham, completing this in 1999. Dr Saboor is a fully trained ophthalmologist, and is GMC registered. He is the Clinical lead for macular services and Clinical Laser Expert for Forth Valley NHS.

Dr Saboor has performed thousands of cataract and Intra-ocular Lens Implant Surgeries and has been conducting Laser refractive surgery since 2000. He has wide experience of different excimer lasers used for vision correction and offers a full range of refractive surgery options including LASIK, LASEK and Intra-Ocular Implant surgery. His experience includes the implantation of multifocal and accommodative lenses (to correct Presbyopia), toric implants (to correct astigmatism) and Phakic Implants (Intraocular ‘contact’ lens).

Dr Saboor has been keenly involved in teaching and training of doctors and nurses. He has organised training courses in Phacoemulsification (Small incision Cataract surgery) and lectured both nationally and internationally. He is a member of European Society of Cataract & Refractive surgeons and the European Society of Retina Specialists. From 2003 to 2013 Dr Saboor was a College tutor for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London and has been Clinical Supervisor for trainee doctors since 2000. He sits on the CPD (Continuous Professional Development) committee of Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London and his expertise is called upon at a host of medical and surgical institutions across Scotland.

Dr Saboor has worked at Optimax since 2010 and treats at our Glasgow clinic.
