We offer a number of vision correction surgeries at Optimax, ranging from laser eye surgery to lens treatments. One of our most popular surgeries for people aged over 50 is multifocal lens exchange, as it can provide good vision for all distances, allowing you to live life without glasses and contact lenses. Having this visual freedom, especially at a time in life where reading glasses are commonplace, can give you a new level of confidence.
One of our patients, Katrina, was treated in December last year and is overjoyed with her results. She found in her early 40s that she required glasses but never got on with them or contact lenses. She visited us for a free consultation and, together with the optometrist and a Patient Advisor, determined that multifocal lenses would be her best option.
We offer several different types of lenses at Optimax. Monofocal lenses generally correct distance vision (although we can have them made to correct another particular visual distance if you desire), so you won’t experience total freedom from glasses or contact lenses after having these inserted. On the other hand, multifocal lenses provide sharp vision for near, intermediate and distant visual ranges, providing the chance to go totally glasses-free. We also offer EDOF lenses which stands for Extended Depth of Focus. The lenses are tolerant to mild amblyopia and subtle macular diseases, while also providing a better depth of focus. This means that they can bend the light that enters your eye, providing good focus for both intermediate and far distances.
Three weeks after her consultation, Katrina had her lens exchange surgery performed in our Leeds clinic.
